Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was a child of British parents Jacqueline Luesby, a lawyer and Chris Watson, a teacher in Paris, France. At the age of five, she relocated to Oxfordshire, where she went to Dragon School. Emma knew she wanted to act from when she was six years old. She was trained for a number of years in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her dancing, singing and acting. She was a stagecoach performer and was the role of the lead in a number of Stagecoach productions. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone 2001, the film adaptation by J.K. Rowling's bestselling book. Emma was found by her Oxford theater instructor who introduced casting representatives to Emma. After eight consistent auditions David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants) that they were selected to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. Emma's first cinematic screen appearance was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). The film broke records for opening-day and weekend sales and was the most-grossing film in 2001. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the young actors. The well-known British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, called her performance "admirable". Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in an Film Film and was nominated for five prizes. Emma became famous after the film's first success of the series. She continued to play the character of Hermione Granger for a total of ten years, in all of the following Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011). Emma was nominated for two Critics Choice Awards from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
